HERBAL MEDICINE

Herbal Medicine is a treatment that involves the use of whole plant remedies, to treat people holistically and promote general well-being. Herbs have been used medicinally for thousands of years and up until the 19th century they were the main form of healthcare available. Plants and herbs contain a variety of natural substances, which can affect the functioning of the human body, making them beneficial for a wide range of symptoms and disorders.

Herbal Medicine is suitable for people of all ages Those already receiving treatment from their doctor may also be helped and are prescribed only those herbs which do not adversely interact with other medication.

Each treatment is tailored to meet the individual's needs and a full consultation (and examination if appropiate) is carried out prior to a prescription being given. This first consulation will take approximately 1 hour, during which time the herbalist will take notes on your general medical history, both past and present, exploring symptoms, diet and lifestyle. Follow-up consultations are of a shorter duration and usually take place every 2 - 5 weeks, at which time adjustments may be made to the medication if deemed necessary.
